02/05/13: Summer's coming, Video Emporium site's evolving...

A few minor changes recently (the only one you'll notice is the ability to search by director actor etc, rather than just by title), all working towards making it even easier to stumble across interesting new films to watch...

28/11/12: BETA BETA READ ALL ABOUT IT!

The website is still in it's almost perpetual 'BETA' phase... oh the joys of a start-up. We are still actively delivering all your DVD needs within Cambridge on the same day and balancing other work and commitments - now that's dedication!

01/11/10: WATCH TRAILERS WITHOUT LEAVING THE SITE...

After clicking a title for more info, you'll see (for all the recently added titles at least) a trailer button which will play you the relvant trailer within the window. Perfect for those indecisive moments...

20/10/10: VIRTUAL DVDS FOR YOUR PERUSAL.

Click on any DVD for more info, and you can then click and hold to zoom in close enough to read the teensy writing on the back, let go to zoom back out and rotate. Just like a real DVD case...

31/08/09: SEARCH IS NOW UP AND RUNNING!.

Yes, that's right lovely lovely people of Cambridge, the long awaited search function is now working, click the 'Catalogue' button and search for your favourite film, director, actor or language , then flick through the results.. Also there's a more conventional way of browsing by genre. Don't worry, the virtual shop will be back shortly. Enjoy!!

24/08/09: Emporium Chat up and running..

No doubt you will have noticed this nifty little fella over to the left, which can be used to leave me a message, or ask other users for recommendations, or even tell the world that 'Baz luvs Shazza 4 eva'. However you look at it, it's the start of my big plans to revolutionise the way you browse for visual entertainment...

20/08/09: More Sunny Weather!

Nice isn't it? My summer office is in full effect once more, so that's a lovely bottle of root beer in the outdoor jaccuzique(tm) whilst tending to the film requirements of the lovely people of Cambridge. Apologies for the increased loading times on the 'Just in' and 'New Release' sections, they will be split up into separate shelves like the rest of the catalogue is, which will mean they load much quicker. Getting there though, eh?
Lots in the pipeline, search function and more conventional browsing by genre etc will be appearing very soon, and various other exciting things...

13/08/09: 'Just in' and 'New Releases' sections updated

Yipeee! Another step towards having the Emporium all working nicely..

04/08/09: Bear with us as the site undergoes a few changes..

As many of you have pointed out, the 'New Releases' section is currently not working,This will be back up and running very soon, using the new browsing system which is loads faster and prettier than the old one. In the meantime, you can see everything that has been added in the 'Just in' section. More and more covers are being added to the virtual shop daily, I reckon I'm about a quarter of the way through the catalogue, so in a couple of weeks or so you'll be making all those nice discoveries again, just like in the good old days...

31/07/09: Virtual Catalogue Browsing a go-go!

My nights right now mainly consist of downloading countless DVD covers for the catalogue. Check it out, still loads to aquire, it's abit like those Panini sticker albums we all used to love so much. Search function still to be implemented, the easiest way to find stuff right now is to give me a call, or catch me via msn (videoemporium@hotmail.co.uk)

24/06/09: Special Offers, Booze, and Sunshine!

That's right folks, thanks to a collaboration between The Emporium and Frank's Late Night Delivery Service ( http://www.franks24.co.uk ) I can now bring you alcoholic refreshment to accompany your DVDs. Click the 'Snacks etc' button to check it out. Bit of a boring selection at the moment, but soon I'll be offering all sorts of interesting beverages from around the world. Think that sounds good? Well check out my 'Whatever they buy, you get for free' offer: For the entire month of July, if new customers (both 'brand new' joiners and also members of the Emporium who are getting a delivery for the first time) quote your name when they order, your account will be credited so that you can get what they paid for, for free! So for example, you tell your neighbour about the service, they join up and order 3 DVDs, a tub of ice cream and a 4 pack of beer, next time you order, you'll be able to have the same thing (Obviously with your choice of films and flavours etc) delivered to your door totally free of charge! This applies to everything, even unlimited rental plans, so start spreading the word... As far as updates to the site are concerned, I've been really busy and I'm very close to unveiling the new version of the site, which will finally see DVD cover browsing for everything in the store, and also the ability to flip the DVDs over and have a peek at the back, which quite a few of you suggested. Thanks for bearing with me, the best things come to those who wait etc etc etc... (PS the search function at the moment is not at all obvious - to get to it, click 'Catalogue' then any section, doesn't matter which. Now click 'Video Emporium' at the top and you'll be taken back to the search. Simple. *cough*)

20/05/09: 'Just In' Section now full to the brim....

Yep, have a little click to flick through the last 20 or so films to be added to our already vast collecion of titles..

13/05/09: Back Catalogue Room is open for browsing....

Click on the 'Catalogue Button below and you'll see I've finished the frontend that lets you browse the various genres. Next in the pipeline is sorting it out so you can flip through actual DVD covers within those genres, in the same way as you can in the 'New Releases' section. Eventually you'll be able to browse through the results of anything you search for...

07/05/09:Getting there...

Goodies to be perused in the 'snack' section..

6/05/09: Helloooooooooooooooooooooooo!

As you can see, I've got rid of the nasty temporary site, and got this up so you get an idea of what is to come. Plenty of things to fix, as you will notice, but I really couldn't stand having the old site up for even one more day. If you click on the 'New Releases' button, you'll see I've been working away at making the way you browse through DVDs online closer to how you'd decide what to rent in an actual shop. Those of you pining for the good ol' days, should click on the 'Catalogue' button and have a little scroll round the back catalogue room. As soon as it's fully working, you'll be able to click on, say, the thriller section, and then flip through the DVD covers. How'd you like them apples? I'd like to stress that at this stage that obviously there's still lots to do, if you keep checking back you'll gradually see things being fixed and improvements being made, Ta, Mark
